Alegré Choir

13-17 year olds
Wednesdays, 5:30-7 pm

The Alegré Choir offers young women and men (with unchanged voices) a joyful and comprehensive experience in choral music. For the fall semester, the Alegré Choir will meet online until such time as the Alberta Health Services and the Chief Medical Officer of Alberta deem it safe to meet in person.

In this online model, we will continue to place the focus on the joy of singing while we explore music of the highest quality that promotes the best vocal development for each of our singers. We will spend more time exploring foundational musicianship skills from music reading and sight singing, small and large group ‘virtual choirs’, sectionals, guest artists and movement. Our online model will also allow us to take a fresh approach to one-on-one vocal instruction, exploring repertoire and analyzing the work of other fine choirs to better understand how we make music together.

If restrictions are lifted, we will explore meeting in small groups with all social distancing, cleanliness standards and safety guidelines in place.

This choir will be led by Kathy Matkin-Clapton for the 2020-21 season.
